Washing your hair is a basic care ritual that... surprisingly often is performed incorrectly. Improper techniques can lead to oily scalp, dry hair ends and even hair loss. At SPot Me UP, we educate clients that healthy hair starts with the scalp. Here's how to wash your hair consciously - step by step - according to our trichologists.
1. How often should you wash your hair?
There is no single golden rule - the frequency depends on the type of scalp, lifestyle and hair type.
SPot Me UP general rule:
- Oily skin: washing every 1-2 days,
- Normal/dry skin: every 2–4 days,
- After training or swimming - always wash your hair.
Don't be afraid of washing more often - gentleness and technique are more important.
2. Should you wash your hair upside down or down?
It's a matter of convenience - but... washing with your head down has its advantages:
- better access to the scalp,
- less hair tangling,
- natural lifting at the roots.
However, the most important thing is to rinse the product thoroughly - regardless of the direction.
3. How to apply shampoo correctly?
SPotMeUP Policy:
- Dilute the shampoo with water in your hand,
- Apply it only to the scalp,
- Massage with your fingertips (not nails!) for 1-2 minutes,
- Rinse very thoroughly with lukewarm water.
The foam flowing down the length is enough to clean it.
4. Conditioner – only for length!
Never apply a conditioner or mask to your scalp (unless it is a specialized product).
How to use:
- Apply the conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends,
- Keep the product for 3-5 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
5. What should you avoid when washing your hair?
- Water too hot
- Aggressive rubbing of the skin,
- Combing wet hair without protection,
- Applying too much shampoo (more is better).
6. What can you do in the living room?
At SPotMeUP, we offer trichological rituals and cleansing the scalp of:
- enzymatic peeling,
- scalp massage,
- trichological analysis,
- a home care plan tailored to you.
